چکیده

This paper reports a label-free field effect transistor (FET) sensor for the detection of DNA hybridization, which measures the surface potential on oligonucleotide modified electrodes using a direct charge accumulation method. The sensor directly and repeatedly transfers the charges that correspond to the surface potential induced by intrinsic negative charges in immobilized molecules, resulting in an improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) through the oversampling effect of accumulation and differential architecture. Our sensor offers a stable, robust and reproducible measurement, unlike the previous ion-sensitive field effect transistors (ISFETs). The proposed device is integrated with working electrodes, a reference electrode and readout circuits into one package via a 0.35 μm CMOS process. Our electrical biosensor has great potential as a bio analytical tool for point-of-care diagnoses.

Representation of the temperature nano-sensors via cylindrical gate-all-around Si-NW-FET

In this paper, the temperature dependence of some characteristics of cylindrical gate-all-around Si nanowire field effect transistor (GAA-Si-NWFET) is investigated to representing the temperature nano-sensor structures and improving their performance. Firstly, we calculate the temperature sensitivity of drain-source current versus the gate-source voltage of GAA-Si-NWFET to propose the temperatu...

Sensing with FETs - once, now and future

In this paper a short overview is given of the several FET-based sensor devices and the operational principle of the ISFET is summarized. Some of the shortcomings of the FET sensors were circumvented by an alternative operational mode, resulting in a device capable of acid/base concentration determination by coulometric titrant generation as well as in an original pH-static enzyme sensor. A mor...

DNA detection by an extended-gate FET sensor with a high-frequency voltage superimposed onto a reference electrode.

An extended-gate field-effect-transistor (FET) sensor with a gold-sensing electrode, to which a gold-thiol bond could easily be applied, was developed for DNA detection. Because the gold electrode is located in a different area from the FET, it can be operated without a light-shielding box by masking only the FET. However, when the FET sensor is used in an aqueous solution, fluctuation of the i...

DNA adsorption measured with ultra-thin film organic field effect transistors.

Organic ultra-thin film field effect transistors (FET) are operated as label-free sensors of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) adsorption. Linearized plasmid DNA molecules (4361 base pairs) are deposited from a solution on two monolayers thick pentacene FET. The amount of adsorbed DNA is measured by AFM and correlated to the concentration of the solution. Electrical characteristics on the dried DNA/p...

Ultrasensitive in situ label-free DNA detection using a GaN nanowire-based extended-gate field-effect-transistor sensor.

In this study, we have successfully demonstrated that a GaN nanowire (GaNNW) based extended-gate field-effect-transistor (EGFET) biosensor is capable of specific DNA sequence identification under label-free in situ conditions. Our approach shows excellent integration of the wide bandgap semiconducting nature of GaN, surface-sensitivity of the NW-structure, and high transducing performance of th...
